Our Team
The VEC Imaging Leadership team was established in December, 2018, when the Joint Venture between Ceeteen GmbH and Varex Imaging came together to form VEC Imaging”. Three Senior Managers, Mark S. Jonaitis, Reinhard Leprich and Dr. Houman Jafari, were named as General Managers. Houman was also named the CEO and Managing Director of VEC Imaging. In turn, Houman named Team Leads over the 5 focus areas of the business: Nanotube Technology, Nanotube Design, Electronics and Power Equipment, Tube Manufacturing and Business Operations.
VEC Imaging stands for flat hierarchies and employee collaboration. We pride ourselves in quick decision making, streamlined communication channels, and a “we together” way of working.

Houman Jafari
Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director

Houman Jafari serves as Chief Executive Officer & General Manager of VEC Imaging GmbH & Co. KG. Prior to joining VEC Imaging in 2018, Houman served in various management positions at Gamma Advanced Technology LLC., Siemens Healthcare, XinRay Systems, Fraunhofer Institute (IIS) and most recently CEO and General Manager at H&P Advanced Technology GmbH.
Houman received his masters and PhD. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen, Germany and masters degree in international business management from Georg Simon Ohm University in Nuremberg, Germany.
Jens Peter Wartmann
Chief Financial Officer, Business Development
Jens Peter (“JP”) Wartmann is VEC’s CFO, overseeing all financial processes and working closely with the CEO and VEC shareholders on corporate development. JP is driving VEC Imaging’s strategic agenda for growth and further funding of the various technology projects, embedded in VEC’s nanotube technology.
JP joined VEC Imaging in October 2022, with a strong background in strategic financial analysis and investor communications. He has a degree in Economics and passed the CFA and CPA examinations.
Phat Tran
Team Lead Program and Project Management
“The opportunity to be part of the development of a breakthrough technology, together with different interdisciplinary teams, is a great challenge that I’m happy to take on. It is a great honor to work with such a diverse group of technical specialists to push the boundaries of X-ray Tube technology”.
Phat Tran serves as Program Manager of VEC Imaging GmbH & Co. KG, overseeing the technical execution of all projects. Phat served in various R&D Management positions at different companies, developing RF connectors and cables, Electronics and High Voltage Power Supplies. Phat received his masters and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering, from Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen.
Cynthia Wilcox
Project Manager

I work every day knowing I am an important part of making a difference, by working for a company whose technology saves lives.”
Cynthia Wilcox serves as the Lead over Business Operations which encompasses Corporate Communications, and the Project Management Office. Cynthia joined VEC Imaging in 2019 after a career with IBM in the United States. Cynthia has her degree in Finance and is Project Management certified. Her strengths lie in the area of Program and Project Management, Customer Relations and Communications.
Andreas Freibert
Team Lead R&D Electronics Department
„Having worked on novel, cutting etch technologies in the medical sector for nearly two decades, the innovative nanotechnology used in their X-ray tubes was the reason for me to come to VEC Imaging. With my young team of enthusiastic engineers we are writing the story of X-ray again.”
Andreas Freibert is Head of the VEC Imaging R&D Electronics Department. Before Andreas joined VEC Imaging GmbH & Co. KG in 2019, he worked in the R&D Department of Siemens Healthineers, the University of Toronto and the Defense Research and Development Canada.
Andreas holds patents in the fields of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Diagnostic Ultrasound and Machine Learning. Andreas graduated as an Electrical Engineer in Medical Technologies from the University of Applied Sciences Schweinfurt, Germany in 2000.
